Thirteen Up Rules

Object

The object of the game is to move all the cards to the foundations.

Layout

  • 1 deck (52 cards), no redeal
  • 1 stock pile (top left) with 31 cards faced down
  • 1 waste pile (right from the stock), initially empty
  • 1 reserve pile (below the stock) containing 13 cards
  • 4 foundation piles (top right), each containing a Two
  • 4 tableau piles (below foundations), each containing 1 card faced up.

Rules

Foundations: Build up in suit, from Two to Ace, wrapping from King to Ace. The top card of a foundation pile can be moved back to the tableau.

Tableau: Build down in suit. The top card of each tableau pile can be moved to the foundations or to another tableau pile. Packed sequence (cards that are sorted down in suit) may be moved to another tableau pile. An empty pile is automattically filled from the waste or from the stock if the waste is empty. When both stock and waste is emptied, any card can be moved to an empty tableau pile. Ranking of cards is continuous so you may play King on Ace.

Reserve: Each card from the reserve can be played to the foundations or to the tableau.

Men are like a deck of cards, you need a heart to love 'em, a diamond to marry 'em, a club to beat 'em and a spade to bury 'em.
