Canfield Rules

Object

The object of the game is to move all the cards to the foundations.

Layout

  • 1 deck (52 cards), unlimited redeals
  • The first card dealt is called the base card. It is placed on the first foundation pile.
  • 4 foundation piles (top right). The first pile contains the base card while other three foundation piles are empty.
  • 1 stock pile (top left) with 34 cards faced down
  • 1 waste pile (right from the stock), initially empty
  • 1 reserve pile (below the stock) containing 13 cards, the top card is visible
  • 4 tableau piles (below the waste) each containing one card faced up

Rules

Stock: Click on the stock to move three cards (or less if there is less than three card in the stock) from the stock to the waste. When the stock is emtied click on the empty stock pile to move all the cards from the waste to the stock (redeal). Unlimited redeals are allowed.

Waste: The top card can be moved to a foundation pile or to a tableau pile. Top three cards in the waste are visible.

Foundations: Build up in suit, from the base card to the card one rank lower than the base card. Ranking of cards is continuous, so you may build Ace after King if necessary. The top card of a foundation pile can be moved back to the tableau.

Tableau: Build down in alternating colors. The top card of each pile may be moved to the foundations or to the tableau. Entire sequence of cards may be moved to another tableau pile. A part of sequence cannot be moved. Ranking of cards is continuous, so you may build King after Ace if necessary. When a tableau pile is empty, the top card from the reserve is automatically placed on the pile. When the reserve is emptied, the An empty pile can be filled with any card from the waste. It is not possible to fill an empty pile with a card or a sequence from another tableau pile.

Reserve: The top card can be moved to a foundation pile or to a tableau pile.
